Introductions first

Introductions, not interruptions.

ROSTA is a professional networking app for people who are building something right now. Nobody can message you until you have agreed to connect, and the best way in is still an introduction from someone you both know.

Fewer contacts. More people who'll pick up.

The short version

So what is it, exactly?

A professional network for founders, operators, freelancers and anyone else with something on the go. You write down what you're building and what you need. The people you're connected to can see it. When one of them knows the person who can actually help, they put the two of you together.

That's the whole idea. It works the same way networking has always really worked, except the app does the remembering.

Reach the right person

Get to someone through a person who can vouch for you, instead of firing off a message to a stranger and hoping.

Be useful to your own network

See what the people you know need this week, and make the connection when you're the one standing between them.

Actually follow up

Keep a private note on who you met, what you talked about, and what you said you'd do. Nobody else ever sees it.

How it works

Nobody likes a cold open.

Nobody can message you until you have accepted them. Anyone can ask to connect, and you decide. The better route is to ask a mutual connection to put you in touch, or to do that for two people who should obviously know each other. Either way, both sides agree before a conversation opens.

no direct route

Features we're proud not to have.

Most of what makes professional networking exhausting is a design decision. We made different ones, and they aren't up for review.

Follower counts

Your connections are not a scoreboard. Nobody can see how many you have, and neither can you.

Cold messages

Nobody lands in your inbox uninvited. A message is only possible once you have accepted the connection.

A ranked timeline

Nothing is reordered by an algorithm deciding which people deserve your attention today.

Endorsements

No badges from people you met once. Reputation here comes from who will vouch for you, out loud.

Your CV can sit this one out.

A profile here is written in the present tense. What you're building, what you need, what you're open to. Nobody needs your job history from 2014.

Say the quiet part

What you're working on and what you actually need. Short, current, and the reason somebody has a reason to reach out.

Meet through someone

Every connection is made by a person, not approved by a system. That's the whole mechanism.

Keep your promises

A private note on anyone you meet and what you said you'd do. Only ever visible to you.

Networking Mode

Strike while the coffee's hot.

Every other profile tells you somebody would take a coffee, one day, in principle. Networking Mode is a switch you flip for the next hour or the rest of the afternoon, and it switches itself off. Nobody is left looking available three weeks after they stopped being available.
